The 90s are when I first started really getting into music. I was about 8, and Kansas City had this kickass alternative station, 107.3 The X. Ahhhh, those were the days... I remember my first 'real' concert, in 1995 for my 10th birthday, the day before I started at a new school out in the boondocks - Cranberries & Toad the Wet Sprocket. Dolores O'Riordan was wearing a hideous pink metallic dress against her fire-engine red pixie cut. Oh, how I wanted to be her!
I had originally planned to whittle this much further than I did. I tried for a week and a half, and this is as small as I'm willing to go - 60 songs. Any less than that just doesn't do 90s alternative justice. I tried to remove the super commonplace 90s music 'list' songs....Enjoy!

The Shape of My Heart
...is undoubtedly an acoustic guitar. And when I'm happiest is when it's played with a slide. It can be glass, or plastic, a Coricidin bottle, a Bic or a Zippo....It matters not!
I know this list is a bit long, but the original one was 50 and it was enough of a struggle to get it here! The list is anything slide. Acoustic, electric, lap steel, you name it. Some songs you'll know, some you probably won't...but I love them all.
Ironically, what prompted me to use this theme was that I was listening to Tyler Ramsey yesterday, and the song Chinese New Year came on. It's just an instrumental song, pretty much entirely slide guitar, and I love it. And of course when I started making this playlist, it's not on imeem. That's okay, though, here's plenty of other stuff!

Pay Attention, Please.
Why don't more people listen to LUCINDA BLACK BEAR?!
I fucking love these guys. This is the ONLY song on imeem by them. I WANT MOOORE!
Once upon a time, when I was Music Director at KMNR, I got this CD in the mail and was reviewing it and was instantly captivated. I checked my email to see their concert schedule, and lo and behold, they were in St. Louis THAT night! So I contacted their promoter and got hooked up for the show, grabbed some folk, and left town. It was in this really odd bar called something like 2 Cents, although that's not right at all...And it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. C. Gibbs is brilliant, and they are just spectacular live...and recorded.

Fabulous!!!
I've decided it would be fun to randomly Google Image search a word, and try to find a picture on the first page of results to put a song to. So today I got the word from Alicia, and she chose 'fabulous', which yielded this:

So, here are 4 songs I think could go with this picture...You tell me which one you like best!
Also, if you can think of any themes or pictures or anything for me to use in the future, put 'em up!

You Can Feel It All Over
A baker's dozen - songs about music, the love of my life.
Nothing ground-breaking, probably all songs you know already, but props to all of them for paying homage to the greatest form of media there is.

What the hell is A.D.D.?!
I've read a lot of blogs, and also owned a lot of blogs, in my 8735 days. The problem is I consistently lose interest in them...especially the ones I've owned. Is this because I'm boring? Well, quite possibly. On the offchance that this isn't the case, I've decided to start anew, and blog about the one thing (if you discount my firm grasp on the English language) that I really know well - music.
I pondered for a good 25 or 30 minutes what concept I would use for this blog...Would I pick a theme and create a playlist? Would I review new albums? Would I tell you all what song I'm in love with at the moment?...and came to the conclusion that I would d) all of the above. The more I pigeonhole myself, the more likely I am to be distracted by something shiny.
Hence the name.
